Sesame Street was almost called 123 Avenue B!

Did you know that Sesame Street was almost called 123 Avenue B?  Producers could not use 123 Avenue B, since this was a real New York City street, so the famous Sesame Street name took its place.

Sesame Street was able to broadcast on November 10, 1969 on the PBS channel, due to a series of grants totalling eight million dollars.  At first the actors and puppets acted separately, but producers had noticed this and had everyone interacting together.  As a result, there was a lot of positive feedback from families across the world.

Some of the show's famous muppets, such as Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie, the Cookie Monster, Kermit the Frog, and The Count, have entertained millions of people over the years.

Personal thoughts and reflections:

I grew up watching Sesame Street and was captivated by the colorful characters, such as Big Bird, The Cookie Monster, Bert and Ernie, and Oscar the Grouch!  My favorite character was The Cookie Monster because he would always stuff his face with a handful of chocolate chip cookies.  Whenever I ate chocolate chip cookies as a kid, I would smile and think of my favorite Sesame Street character.

The animations and sounds of Sesame Street were entertaining, various Sesame Street characters talked about today's letter and number in a humorous way, and there were many themes throughout the show, such as being kind to others, learning to share, and being dependable.

It comes to no surprise why millions of families across the world enjoy the most entertaining children's show ever!  Thank you for the great memories, Sesame Street!
